Mythen manufacturing plant is situated in the industrial area of Ferrandina (province of Matera) in the Basento Valley where, at the beginning of 2003, the company purchased a chemical manufacturing site of approximately 40,000 m² (the former IRS plant) and a surrounding area of land of approximately 20,000 m².
The interior of the plant is divided up into various areas of operation, separated by internal waterproofed roadways and fitted with separate drainage systems for white waters and industrial refluent waters, which are all channelled to the plant’s internal disposal system.
 
The plant boasts the following manufacturing capacities:
•    200,000 t/y biodiesel
•    15,000 t/y epoxidised soya bean oil
•    25,000 t/y pure glycerine  
•    2,000 t/y monopotassic phosphate.

The plant is equipped with all the services and utilities necessary for running the machinery:
•    production and distribution of diatermic oil and steam;
•    production and distribution of demineralised water;
•    production and distribution of cooling water;
•    production and distribution of refrigerated water;
•    compression and distribution of air for instruments and air for services;
•    distribution of gaseous nitrogen and reserve of gasifiable liquid nitrogen;
•    distribution of gasifiable liquid oxygen;
•    disposal system for refluent waters; 
•    purifying unit for exhaust fumes and tank vent accumulation point;
•    fire-fighting system;
•    methane decompression and distribution cabin;
•    electrical power distribution cabin and system.

Within the perimeter of the site are also warehouses and storehouses. One warehouse of 1,200 m² is reserved for the handling of liquid products in drums and, separately, solid products in sacks.

The storage of raw materials and finished liquid products is divided among different areas with storage tanks situated next to the manufacturing machinery (approx. 100 tanks of capacities ranging from 10 to 300 mc) and an additional area further away from the manufacturing units that contains the larger tanks (capacities from 800 to 2500 mc).

The plant is connected to the national railway network, by which most of the goods enter and leave the site. 

Lastly, the plant also houses the Research and Quality Control laboratory. This activity is conducted in a building of approximately 1,200 m², which accommodates all the laboratory personnel and the equipment for research and production control.
